Professor Adrian Hill heads a research group
based at the University
of Oxford, UK. The group is split in to two parts:
1. The vaccine development and immunology group based within the
Nuffield
Department of Medicine.
2. The genetics group based at the Wellcome
Trust Centre for Human Genetics who study the genetics of
resistance and susceptibility to various infectious diseases including
malaria, TB and hepatitis B and C.
|
Adrian is head of the malaria vaccine trials
group. He is professor of human genetics at the University
of Oxford and Honorary Consultant in Infectious Disease. |
|
Sarah designs the new malaria vaccines
and uses a molecular technique for diagnosing malaria during
the challenge studies. |
|
Sheila has been working on the malaria vaccine trials for the last three years studying cellular immune responses to malaria antigens and vaccine induction of memory T cells. |
|
Daniel is one of the physicians working
on the malaria vaccine trials in the UK and also works in
the laboratory on the development of new vaccines. |
|
Susie is one of the physicians working
on the malaria vaccine trials in the UK and also works in
the laboratory investigating the immune response in vaccine
recipients. |
|
Ian is the research nurse working on the
malaria vaccine trials in the UK and is responsible for volunteer
recruitment. |
|
David is one of the physicians working on the malaria vaccine trials in the UK, and is planning a PhD within the group. |
|
Steve is responsible for overseeing the assessment of immune responses in vaccine recipients, and with an interest in immunological mechanisms underlying successful vaccination. |
|
Fiona is one of the physicians working on the malaria vaccine trials in the UK and also works in the laboratory looking at immune responses in people living in endemic areas. |
|
Laura works on vaccine development and
malaria diagnosis during the challenge studies. |
|
Tamara is responsible for assessing the
immune responses in vaccine recipients. |
Anne is a senior immunologist and is involved
with pre-clinical vaccine design.
Bob works at Imperial College in London and is responsible for
culturing the malaria parasites and rearing the mosquitoes used
in the malaria challenge study.
Zia ensures that the clinical data is ordered and accurate, and is also involved in the setting up of clinical trials.
Trudie oversees the running of all aspects of the clinical trials from a managerial perspective.
Geoff works at Imperial College in London and is responsible for
culturing the malaria parasites and rearing the mosquitoes used
in the malaria challenge study.
